Biopharmaspec has been formed by Prof Howard Morris (with 45 years of experience in biopolymer characterisation and founder of the M-Scan group of companies) and Dr Andrew Reason (with 25 years of experience in commercialisation of analytical methods for characterising biopolymers and previously Group Manager of the European M-Scan laboratories and SGS M-Scan Europe).

With over 45 years of experience in the fields of Mass Spectrometry and Liquid Chromatography our teams of expert scientists, from both academic and industrial backgrounds, are skilled in the analysis of Biopharmaceutical products and the interpretation of novel and unusual structures, including post-translational modifications (PTMs). BiopharmaSpec can therefore play an important enabling role in your own research and product development.

Our scientists pioneered the now well-accepted strategies of mass spectrometric Peptide Mapping [1,2,3] and the use of mass spectrometry in Disulphide Bridge Assignment [4,5] and the discovery and characterization of Glycosylation in natural and recombinant proteins [6,7,8,9,10].

BioPharmaSpec utilises advanced Q-TOF, tandem quadrupole mass spectrometric and liquid chromatographic techniques including UPLC-ES-MS, UPLC-ES-MS/MS and Nanospray to allow full characterisation of the covalent structures of biopharmaceutical products, including the important post-translational modifications (PTMs) of glycosylation and disulphide bridge formation.

In addition, BioPharmaSpec offers classical gas-phase Edman sequencing services allowing (i) the differentiation of Leu/Ile assignments in De-Novo sequencing projects, such as monoclonal antibody (mAb) characterisations, and (ii) the confirmation of N-terminal sequence.

BioPharmaSpec is an independent analytical research laboratory, which along with its predecessors, has a long track-record of solving many of the cutting edge problems in biopolymer research and we stand ready to apply this cumulative expertise to the efficient characterisation of your important biopharmaceutical products.

Supplier diversity

SAM.gov small-business designations

Minority-owned

US small-business federal-contractor designation, self-certified in the U.S. federal System for Award Management (SAM.gov). Coverage is limited to matched U.S. small-business suppliers, so an absent designation is not evidence of its absence.
