Pharma Observatory Explore Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-10-10
1. Who we are #
Pharma Observatory Explore (the “Service”) is operated by The Assay Depot LLC, trading as Scientist.com (“Scientist.com”, “we”, “us”). For questions about these terms, write to support@scientist.com.
2. What these terms cover #
These terms govern your use of the Pharma Observatory Explore web application and any account you create in order to sign in to it. They also govern your request for a gated PDF as described in section 5, even where that does not involve an account. They do not govern any other Scientist.com product, marketplace, or agreement. If you access Pharma Observatory Explore under a separate written agreement with Scientist.com, that agreement controls where it conflicts with these terms.
The public map sites at contractresearchmap.com and clinicalresearchmap.com (the “Map Sites”) are also part of the Service. You do not need an account to use them. Sections 6 through 14 apply to your use of them, including the rule on automated extraction in section 6.
By creating an account, signing in, requesting a gated PDF, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account, do not request a PDF, and do not use the Service.
3. Accounts #
Accounts for Pharma Observatory Explore are created and held in a Scientist.com operated identity service, not inside the Pharma Observatory Explore application itself. Registration collects the information needed to establish and recover an account, and requires you to verify control of the email address you provide.
You agree that:
- the information you provide at registration is accurate and that you will keep it current;
- you are registering on your own behalf, or on behalf of an organization you are authorized to bind;
- you will keep your credentials confidential and will not share your account, password, or any second factor with anyone else;
- you are responsible for activity that occurs under your account; and
- you will tell us promptly, at support@scientist.com, if you believe your account has been compromised.
Verifying your email address proves that you control that address. It does not prove anything else, and by itself it gives you no right to use the Service. See section 4.
4. Creating an account gives you no access to the data #
This is the most important operational term in this document, and it reflects exactly how the system is built.
Registration and email verification establish identity only. They do not create any entitlement to the Service, to any dataset, or to any feature. You can get access in one of two ways: by purchasing a plan yourself through the checkout flow linked from our pricing page, which grants access automatically once your payment is processed; or by asking us for access without purchasing a plan (an access request), which a Scientist.com administrator may approve manually, including at no charge. Until you have either completed a purchase or been approved, you can sign in and you will reach a page telling you that access is awaiting approval. You will not be able to view any data.
Accordingly:
- We may approve or decline any access request, and we are not obliged to give a reason.
- Approval of an access request is discretionary and is not a promise of continued access.
- We may withdraw any access at any time, in accordance with section 10.
- Approving an access request does not, by itself, charge you a fee or create a subscription.
- Fees are stated on our pricing page and charged as described at checkout; purchasing a plan there creates a paid subscription, separate from the access-request path above.
For operational reasons, a change to your entitlement may take effect only at your next sign-in rather than instantly within an active session. That is a known property of the current release. It does not extend any right to use the Service after your entitlement has been withdrawn: once we withdraw entitlement, your permission to use the Service ends immediately, whatever your browser session still shows.
5. Gated PDFs #
Some pages of the Service are public and offer a downloadable PDF built from the full data behind that page, in exchange for your email address. This section applies to you if you request one, whether or not you ever create an account.
Requesting a PDF does not create an account and grants no entitlement to the rest of the Service. Section 4 continues to govern access to the product itself.
By requesting a PDF, you agree to this section with respect to the PDF and its content, and to the privacy policy’s description of what we collect and the emails we send you as a result.
License. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use a PDF you receive for your own internal reference. You must not redistribute, republish, resell, sublicense, or otherwise make the PDF or its content available to any third party, and you must not remove or alter any attribution or license notice it carries.
Warranties. Section 7’s disclaimers about the content of the Service, and section 11’s general disclaimers, apply to a PDF exactly as they apply to the rest of the Service: it is provided “as is”, it is not professional advice, and we do not warrant its accuracy or completeness.
Restricted data. A PDF never contains restricted-tier third-party content (section 8); everything in it is public-tier data.
Limits. We may limit the number of PDFs a given email address can request before we ask you to create an account; the privacy policy states the current limit.
6. Acceptable use #
You may use the Service to view, search, and analyze the information it presents, for your own internal research and business purposes, subject to section 7 and section 8.
You must not:
- use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- attempt to gain access to any account, entitlement, dataset, environment, or feature you have not been granted, or attempt to bypass, disable, or probe any authentication, entitlement, or access control;
- use automated means to extract, scrape, harvest, or bulk download content from the Service, or reconstruct any material part of the underlying database, except with our prior written permission;
- resell, redistribute, sublicense, publish, or make the Service or its content available to any third party, except as expressly permitted in section 7;
- remove, obscure, or alter any attribution, license notice, source citation, or restriction indicator that the Service displays alongside data;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code or the underlying models of the Service, except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable under applicable law;
- attempt to re-identify any individual from aggregated or de-identified information, or to combine the content with other data for that purpose;
- interfere with the operation, integrity, or availability of the Service, including by imposing an unreasonable load on it;
- use the Service to build, train, or improve a competing product or dataset, or to provide a substantially similar service to third parties;
- share your account or your access with anyone else, including anyone else in your organization who has not been separately approved.
Map Sites. The directories on the Map Sites (the suppliers, organizations and trial sites they list, with their names, places and categories) are published for people to look things up. Without our prior written permission you must not use automated means to extract, scrape, harvest, or bulk download them, including by requesting the data behind their maps other than through the pages themselves, and you must not copy, republish, or resell the directory or any material part of it. We limit how many requests one address can make to the data behind the maps, and we may block an address that exceeds those limits or harvests the directory. Ordinary search engine indexing that follows our robots.txt is not affected. To ask for permission, write to support@scientist.com.
We may investigate suspected misuse and may suspend access while we do so.
7. The content of the Service, and third-party data #
Pharma Observatory Explore presents information assembled from many external sources, including public registries, government data, published literature, regulatory filings, and licensed commercial datasets, together with our own processing, matching, and entity resolution across those sources.
You should understand and accept the following.
The content comes from third parties and we do not warrant it. We do not control the external sources, we do not independently verify every record, and sources change, disappear, are corrected, and are sometimes wrong. Matching and entity resolution are statistical processes and produce errors, including incorrect links between records. The content is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
The content is not professional advice. Nothing in the Service is medical advice, clinical guidance, legal advice, regulatory advice, investment advice, or a recommendation to take any action. The Service is not a regulated medical device, is not validated for any regulated purpose, and must not be used as a source of record for a regulatory submission, a clinical decision, a safety decision, or a financial decision. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you rely on.
Third-party terms may apply. Some sources impose their own license conditions, including attribution requirements and prohibitions on commercial use or redistribution. Where the Service displays an attribution or a license notice with a dataset, that notice forms part of the conditions on which you may use that content, and you must comply with it.
Our rights. Except for third-party content and third-party rights, the Service, its software, its interface, its models, and its resolved and derived datasets are owned by Scientist.com or its licensors. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service while your entitlement is active, and nothing more. No other license is granted, by implication or otherwise.
8. Restricted third-party data #
Some datasets carry usage restrictions that we track explicitly and that we treat as binding. We classify every restricted source into one of two tiers, and the Service shows the applicable attribution with restricted content in the interface.
Prohibited tier. Sources for which no commercial license is available to us at all, for example datasets published under a non-commercial license. Content in this tier is made available only for internal, non-commercial use, and only to users we have authorized for it.
Licensable tier. Sources that are commercially usable only for as long as the relevant paid license or data use agreement is held. Content in this tier is made available only to users covered by that license, and only while it remains in force.
If any restricted-tier content is visible to you, then in addition to section 6 and section 7:
- You receive no right to redistribute, republish, sublicense, resell, transfer, or otherwise make that content available to any third party, in any form, in whole or in part, and no right to create or distribute a derivative dataset from it. No such right is granted by these terms, by your entitlement, or by the fact that the content was displayed to you.
- Your permission to view licensable-tier content lasts only as long as the underlying license or data use agreement remains in force. If that license ends, changes, or is withdrawn, we may remove the content without notice and your permission to use it ends at the same time. We are not liable for the removal.
- You must preserve every attribution and license notice the Service displays with the content, in any permitted internal use of it.
- You must comply with the terms of the underlying third-party license. Where the third-party license is stricter than these terms, the third-party license controls.
- We may withdraw access to any restricted dataset at any time, for any reason, including a change in our own license position.
9. Confidential and first-party information #
The Service may present information that Scientist.com treats as confidential first-party information, including information derived from Scientist.com’s own marketplace. Where the Service marks content as confidential or internal, you must treat it as confidential information of Scientist.com, must not disclose it outside your organization, and must use it only for the purpose for which access was granted.
10. Suspension, termination, and revocation of access #
We may suspend or terminate at any time. We may suspend your access, withdraw your product entitlement, or close your account at any time, with or without notice, including where we believe you have breached these terms, where we believe your account has been compromised, where continued access presents a legal or licensing risk, where a third-party data license changes, or where we decide to discontinue the Service or your access to it.
Access is not guaranteed. The Service is provided without any availability commitment or service level. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, including any dataset or feature, at any time.
You may stop at any time. You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask us to close your account by writing to support@scientist.com. Closing your account is handled as described in the privacy policy.
Effect of termination. When your entitlement or account ends, your right to use the Service and its content ends immediately. Sections 6 through 9 and sections 11 through 13 survive termination, together with any provision that by its nature should survive.
11. Disclaimers #
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service and all content are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
12. Changes to these terms #
We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to tell you, which may include notifying you at the email address on your account or showing a notice when you next sign in. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
13. General #
These terms are the entire agreement between you and Scientist.com about the Service, except where a separate signed agreement applies. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms without our written consent; we may assign them as part of a corporate transaction.
14. Contact #
