The OXION microarray facility is run on a collaborative basis. As the success of an array experiment is very much dependent on the design of the experiment, advice is provided about experimental design, which chip to use, the amount of RNA required and the number of replicates needed. RNA quality is checked using the Agilent Bioanalyser. Samples which pass a quality threshold are prepared and run on the Affymetrix system. The arrays are analysed for statistically changing genes and are biologically interpreted using GO annotation and pathways tools eg Ingenuity and GenMAPP's GO-Elite.
