Midas Mediscience Ltd provides human ion channel characterisation services using cell-based assays and DrugPrint® analytical software to generate high content drug data and cardiotoxicity risk assessment. Operating an HSE registered laboratory for the culture and evaluation of genetically modified human cell lines in the United Kingdom, Midas provides a specialist research service to clients in pre-clinical research, pharmaceutical development and medicines regulatory sectors.

The commercial availability of stable and expressive human cardiomyocyte-like cells, a reliable methodology for non-invasive measurements of field action potentials in a cardiac tissue environment using Micro Electrode Arrays (MEA) and the powerful DrugPrint® analytical software enables a rapid, uniquely relevant and discriminatory understanding of drug responses under circumstances where conventional animal models often fail to demonstrate relevant features or risk.

These specialist techniques are designed to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of decision-making in the complex processes involved in the discovery and development of new drugs by providing surrogate ‘human’ data early in the development and safety testing for candidate new drugs.

Midas Mediscience also has considerable experience in determining the quality of human cells and can provide storage of human cells, QA certification and international despatch from its UK Laboratories.
