Infectious diseases remain an urgent and persistent global health threat, in both the developed and the developing world. Vaccines are recognized as the most cost-effective and successful approach to managing such diseases, yet traditional methods for discovering and developing vaccines are too slow and insufficiently comprehensive to meaningfully address the complexity of many pathogens.

We are working to create vaccines that stimulate the T cell arm of the immune system, which is increasingly recognized as critical to generating protective and long‐term immunity against a wide array of diseases.

We design vaccines using ATLAS™, our proprietary technology platform. ATLAS™ builds on the research of Darren Higgins, PhD, Professor, Department of Microbiology and Immunobiology, Harvard Medical School. Genocea quickly identifies T cell antigens to induce broader and more powerful immune responses than existing vaccines. We can recreate in vitro the T cell immune responses of hundreds of humans to thousands of potential antigens to identify a small number of proteins appropriate for testing as vaccine candidates.

Our pipeline of novel T cell vaccines includes a clinical-stage therapeutic candidate in HSV-2, GEN-003, as well as earlier-stage programs in Pneumococcus, Chlamydia, HSV-2 prophylaxis and malaria. Our platform has potential to revolutionize vaccines and immunotherapies for a range of infectious diseases, cancers and autoimmune diseases.
