The Dundee University human pluripotent stem cell facility is jointly funded by the College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing, and the College of Life Sciences. The facility is hosted within the Division of Cell and Developmental Biology and is located on level 4 of the Medical Sciences Institute. We offer a range of services tailored to researchers including:

  • supply of undifferentiated human embryonic stem cells and human induced pluripotent stem cells
  • training in working with human pluripotent stem cells
  • production of genetically engineered stem cell lines
  • assistance in the development of protocols for differentiating cells

Cells can be delivered in a range of formats suited to the end users requirements. Undifferentiated cells are banked in large quality controlled lots to ensure consistent supply of high quality cells, and extensively characterised to check for the expression of pluripotency markers / absence of differentiation markers, and the ability to differentiate into cells that are representative of the three germ layers in vitro.
