DEFINITION: FDA defines “Personalized Medicine” as using genetic information to make treatment decisions. These who should get certain drug therapies or specific doses of a given therapy, or who should be monitored more carefully because they’re predisposed to a particular safety issue.

The terms genetics, pharmacogenetics, personalized medicine, and pharmacogenomics have been used interchangeably to mean the study of genetic variations and their influence on the way people respond to medications.

Kailos Genetics has developed TargetRich™ to fully leverage next generation sequencing for two reasons – flexibility and cost.

Flexibility: The ability to respond to a broader interest in personalized medicine. This means (a) offering testing in other disease states, in addition to oncology and pharmacogenomics, and (b) more targeted solutions – testing options that include exactly what you want.

Cost: The ability to deliver timely results and outstanding customer service in a system where we need to get more from every healthcare dollar. This means efficient design (e.g. precise definition of targets of interest), and leveraging the latest advances in technology (e.g. next generation sequencing). That requires precision.
