The problem today

Revenue sits in company filings, exclusivity dates in FDA listings and the pipeline in the trial registry. Each uses a different name for the product, so lining up an expiring brand with its follow-on programs is manual work. The numbers also measure different things, and a slide that mixes worldwide revenue with Medicare spend gets picked apart.

Why this beats what you do now

  • Brand, molecule and company linked. An expiring brand connects to its molecule, its owner and that owner's pipeline.
  • Each number says what it measures. Revenue, pricing and Medicare spend sit under their own labels.
  • Dates and pipeline together. Exclusivity dates sit beside the decisions that could offset them.
  • A published price. The Individual plan is published at $249/seat/mo and starts with a 14-day trial.

What you can answer

Who is already studying the disease a brand treats?

Condition pages show who else is running trials in the indication a brand treats: registered trials by phase and by start year, with the lead sponsors and the drugs trialled. Alzheimer Disease is a worked example of how crowded one indication can be. 3,859 registered trials study Alzheimer Disease or one of its sub-conditions.

Which brands have disclosed revenue, and how has it changed?

Brands lists approved and marketed brands, one row per trade name, ranked by disclosed worldwide revenue. The revenue figures come from companies' SEC 10-K and 20-F filings and are charted by fiscal year.

Which companies face the largest loss-of-exclusivity exposure?

Patent Cliff stacks the drugs still under patent protection by the year that protection lapses and by company, so the franchises facing loss of exclusivity are visible at once, and it marks the drugs that already have a biosimilar available. Exposure is sized by the revenue a company discloses for the drug and, where none is disclosed, by US Medicare spend.

Which FDA decisions are coming up?

The Calendar is a dated list of upcoming FDA decisions, soonest first, so a label or launch decision can be read beside an expiring franchise. The dates are extracted from public SEC 8-K and 6-K filings, and the Individual plan adds the licensed Benzinga catalyst calendar, shown with its attribution.

Is the number revenue, unit pricing or Medicare spend?

A drug page shows brand revenue as disclosed by the company, and a separate Pricing and spend section with retail unit cost, Medicare Part B reimbursement and actual Medicare spend. Each figure carries its own label, so a slide never has to blend them.

Which follow-on programs could replace an expiring product?

A company page lists its programs under In development, Approved and Abandoned, drawn from public trial and approval records. Read the In development list beside the company's expiring brands to see what could follow them.

Scope

Patent Cliff sizes exposure by the revenue a company discloses for a drug and, where none is disclosed, by US Medicare spend, which is a US public-payer measure. Revenue appears where companies disclose it by brand.
