PhylogenX offers preclinical research services in the field of neuroscience. Our services are meant to test and validate efficacy and provide some indication on the safety of novel experimental drugs. Building on the expertise of its scientific founders, PhylogenX has found a way to render non‐human primate experiments cost‐effective while reducing the use of animals in compound testing. We believe that the added value of our services based on use of non‐human primate tissues will allow our clients to make more confident investment decisions.

The benefits of using our services:

  • Test pharmaceutical compounds in native tissue from a species that shares ≥98% of its genes with humans.
  • Assess inter‐species pharmacology discrepancies, such as potency shift and mechanism of action.
  • Validate rodent preclinical data and selection of candidate drugs.
  • Validate target engagement and proof of mechanism data for lead candidate drugs.
  • Build pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic models for clinical prediction and dose selection (impact for preclinical toxicity studies and Ph‐I dose selection).
  • Ascertain mechanism of action and potency before going into costly clinical trials.

Our in vitro electrophysiology assays deliver high quality target validation and efficacy data in native non‐human primate tissue, while adhering to the strictest bioethics standards. Assays run using rodent tissues are also available.

Key expertise:

  • Non-human primate neurons (primary culture)
  • Inter-species pharmacology discrepancies
  • Selection of candidate drugs
  • Dose selection
