ANGUS Chemical Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company, is the world's only company dedicated to nitroalkanes and their derivatives.

Because our chemistries are so versatile, we are able to tailor our products to solve the challenges of formulators in a wide variety of industries. From paint and coatings to pharmaceuticals, metalworking, water treatment, personal care and a range of others, solutions from ANGUS can be customized for just about any application.

Over the years, customers have come to know us as the only specialty additives supplier that can uncover the precise solutions for their formulation challenges. While our chemistries have been unpatented for more than 30 years, no other company has been able to duplicate our technology to create the same high-quality products that we offer our customers. Our senior scientists, process engineers, application chemists and supply chain experts constantly evolve and improve products to solve all your synthesis needs. Combined with the support of world-class manufacturing facilities, state-of-the-art laboratories and unparalleled market expertise, the possibilities are endless.

What sets us apart from other manufacturers is our unique nitroalkane chemistry that harbors the reactivity to create complex molecules for use in a wide variety of applications. Its innate characteristics reduce reaction steps and cut synthesis costs, allowing us to perform a multitude of useful transformations.

At ANGUS, we manufacture four basic nitroalkanes - nitromethane, nitroethane, 1-nitropropane, and 2-nitropropane. By employing this original chemistry, we are able to modify these molecules to create a wide range of derivatives that can be used across industries, for a variety of purposes. Our nitroalkanes and derivatives serve not only as chemical building blocks, but also as additives that enhance product performance. They are functional across a variety of applications and can contribute to pH and corrosion control, crosslinking, dispersion, emulsification, moisture control, neutralization, oxygen and radical scavenging and solvency.
