Innium Technologies Inc. (“Innium”) is a privately owned biotechnology company specialized in cell line development for biopharmaceutical applications. The company now also offers services in detailed characterization of protein product as well as cell line stability studies of clients’ cell lines. Innium is currently developing monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), therapeutic proteins mainly used for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. Innium’s work consists in cloning and inserting genes coding for the mAb into mammalian cells such as CHO cells (Chinese Hamster Ovary cells, the preferred host for the industrial production of biopharmaceuticals), selecting the cell lines for maximal productivity, product quality and consistency as well as cell line stability. Throughout this processthe company performs various tests that characterize the mAb produced, most notable is the detailed Mass spectroscopy characterization that has recently been added and generates very detailed information regarding post-translational modifications, isoform distribution, etc. Innium has planned to develop other recombinant proteins of industrial interest in the coming months/years.
