Genomnia is a privately owned small company established in October 2008, located in Lainate , on the outskirts of Milan, Italy. It offers deep sequencing and bioinformatic analysis services to private and public entities, covering genomics, transcriptomics and epigenetics projects. Proteomics and clinical-grade proteomics services have been recently introduced. The company is a Lifetech service provider and it is ISO 9001 certified for NGS data production and analysis since 2010. Short read sequencing technology with SOLiD 5500xl was chosen for its high throughput, precision, sensitivity and dynamic range.
Difficult challenges have been solved both in the laboratory (RNA sequencing from few cells; optimization of ChIP protocols) and in the bioinformatics activities (discovery of novel human microRNAs; non-coding RNA investigations; optimization of analysis pipelines; advanced biostatistical approaches). The bioinformatics infrastructure consists in an internal framework (cluster + high performance server with large shared memory + around 30 Tb of shared RAID5 disk space + workstations); contracted access to an external HPC facility (CILEA); a large set of public domain and commercial databases and analytical software.
Genomnia has a well-established experience with national and international partners and customers, including in a wide range of Next Generation Sequencing and Analysis applications:
- microRNA sequencing, analysis and discovery;
- Transcriptome analysis;
- mutation discovery through targeted and full exome resequencing;
- De Novo sequencing, assembly and annotation of a viral genome;
- ChIP-seq.
Thanks to the active participation in National projects focused on Diagnostics and prognostics marker of Human Glioblastoma or Endophenotypes genes and developmental environment, in addition to a series of contracts in Epigenetics and Transcription Factor investigations, Genomnia has gained an extensive and comprehensive experience in ChIP seq sequencing and analysis, including integration between different high-throughput technologies such as ChIP-seq and Whole Transcriptome Analysis. This experience has been formalized and implemented in specific external analytical services able to respond to specific NGS customers’ request.
