Prairie Flax Products

Prairie Flax Products Inc. was created in January of 1999 to fill the need for a commercial scale supplier of milled flaxseed for human food as well as animal feed. With financial support from Manitoba's Ensis Growth Fund and other private investors the business began with the purchase of an existing facility which could be renovated and re-equipped to produce our products. This renovation work was completed by early fall of 1999 with production beginning in September of that year when Prairie Premium Milled Flaxseed first became available to the Health Products and Animal feed industries.

Our plant is located in Central Manitoba along Trans Canada Highway #1 approximately 7 miles east of MacGregor in the heart of the flax growing area. Our goal is to supply the very best quality products available to our customers while retaining the "value added" activity in the region where the flax is grown.

More and more consumers are realizing the positive health benefits of including FLAXSEED in their diets and in the diets of their pets and companion animals. Livestock producers are also starting to incorporate milled flaxseed into the food rations of their animals, and finding fantastic results. This all natural seed is one of nature's most therapeutic products as well as one of the most important sources of Omega-3 essential fatty acids. Milled flaxseed is also a major source of lignans and fiber both of which play an important role in the prevention of cancer. Canada produces approximately 35% of the world's flax. Canadian flax has long been recognized as the highest quality available.
