Trials started per year with this organization as sponsor or collaborator, 1990 onward. The series also counts trials where the organization is a collaborator; the lead-sponsor trial count does not.

2026 is partial: 0 registered with a 2026 start date. The dashed outline is the pace from the 0 registered with a start date through September, planned starts included, not adjusted; not a forecast. No forecast is made for this organization: it averages 1.2 trial starts a year over the five years to September, under the 5 a year the method needs.

This page covers Concert Pharmaceuticals (United States): 33 lead-sponsored trials and 1 legal-entity registration.

Sponsor delivery record (1)

Enrollment hit target: the share of this sponsor's lead-sponsored trials whose actual enrollment reached the planned enrollment. On time: the share whose actual primary completion date was no later than the planned date. Each share counts only trials where we observed an estimated figure before the actual one, and n is that number of trials. Below 5 trials the count is shown as a fraction, not a percentage.

We are a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company applying its extensive knowledge of deuterium chemistry to discover and develop novel small molecule drugs. Our approach starts with approved drugs, advanced clinical candidates or previously studied compounds that we believe can be improved with deuterium substitution to provide better pharmacokinetic or metabolic properties and thereby enhance clinical safety, tolerability or efficacy. We have executed on this approach to become a clinical stage biotechnology company and are developing a robust pipeline of product candidates in several therapeutic areas.

We apply our DCE Platform to systematically identify approved drugs, advanced clinical candidates or
previously studied compounds that we believe can be improved with deuterium substitution. Potential
advantages of our selective deuteration include:

Improved metabolic profile. We have selectively deuterated compounds or their metabolites to
improve their metabolic profiles. In some cases we also have reduced the formation of toxic or reactive
metabolites relative to the corresponding non-deuterated compound, thereby potentially eliminating
unwanted side effects or undesirable drug interactions.
Improved oral bioavailability. We have selectively deuterated compounds to reduce the extent of
undesired metabolism in the wall of the intestines and in the liver, referred to as first-pass metabolism.
This resulted in a larger percentage of unmetabolized drug reaching the target site of action.
Deuterated compounds with improved bioavailability may be active at lower doses.
Increased half-life. We have selectively deuterated compounds to increase their half-life in the body.
This may decrease the number of doses that a patient is required to take per day or provide more
consistent exposure of the compound in comparison to the corresponding non-deuterated compound.
